Nice review. I particularly like (and agree) with your summary of how the Volt differs from the Leaf and other cars: "The Volt is a forgiving car for imperfect people." Exactly! I need to know if I have a problem getting the battery charged, the gas engine is there as a backup. Unfortunately, my plans to buy a Volt have to stay on hold until I own a house with a garage (for the charging station).

I have seen a couple of these around town. They are quite attractive and a good compromise for drivers around Phoenix. The price makes you say "Yikes!"

This looks like it could be a very attractive option for a very small market segment. Not something that would be considered by the majority of typical new car buyers. It doesn't seem a likely option for a single car household. A large portion of the new car buying public will not be able to use the tax credits so economically it will not make sense for them. It looks like it could be a great option for an upper middle class household with a couple of other vehicles and available garage space where they can charge it. That's a relatively small market segment. This makes me wonder why GM didn't come out with a Cadillac version first.

I'm also going to be interested to see what the used car market turns out to be for this vehicle. My expectation is that the typical used car buyer will be even less likely to find this car a viable option than the typical new car buyer.

I actually drove the Malibu first. The review was more influenced by my time with the Buick Regal GS. That car set a pretty high standard that I was hoping the Malibu LTZ would equal. Once again, I liked the Malibu, just not as much as the Buick Regal GS (of course, the Malibu does cost less...).

Was this review influenced by that monster Chrysler 300 SRT8 that you returned, but really loved? I would find it hard to review a pretty normal car after hitting that big Hemi.

I like your list. As for comments; I liked the police edition Fairmonts. Arizona DPS had them for a while. The Pontiac Astre, which I pronounced Ast ruh was as good as the Vega it was based on. The Cimmaron, I called it a Cad-alier. (Cadillac Cavalier). The Catera was a fun car. I worked at the GM proving grounds when they were in Mesa. This was one of my favorite cars to test flog. Look forward to seeing you at Barrett Jackson.
